    DRIVER EDUCATION

    REGISTRATION for SUMMER DRIVER EDUCATION will begin on Mon.,May 5th. Applications will be accepted through Fri.,May 30th. Space is limited and all classes will be filled on a first come-first served basis. Applications can be found on the SCHOOL's WEBSITE or in the MAIN OFFICE.

    SAFE DRIVING

    MANDATORY MEETING FOR ALL JUNIORS AND PARENTS: Safe Driving Assembly on Thurs.,May 8th at 6:30pm in the HS WEST auditorium. However, if you are not able to attend this assembly, students are welcome to attend the assembly for HS EAST which is given on Tues.,April 29th at 6:30pm in the auditorium at Nesaquake MS. Students are required to attend one of these assemblies along with a parent/guardian.

    STOP & SHOP REWARDS

    Welcome to the start of a new year and a year of A+ School Rewards for SHS WEST!
    With your help, Smithtown High School West will have the opportunity to earn cash through Stop & Shop A+ School Rewards Program:
    All you have to do is:
    1. E-Mail to Marie Mattera your complete Stop & Shop number located on your Stop & Shop card.(include the last digit)
    OR
    2. Log on to www.stopandshop.com/aplus to register online.(go to Customer Zone)
    OR
    3. Dial 1-877-275-2758 to register your card over the phone.

    After you register your card, each shopping trip at Stop & Shop using your Stop & Shop Card earns CASH for our school! Each month, the amount of CASH awarded will be updated on the Stop & Shop website. You can track the amount of points you earn for our school by checking your grocery receipt and online when you create an account at www.stopandshop.com.Our school will receive a check at the end of the program. The money can be used for any of our school's educational needs.
    Remember, even if you registered your card last year, YOU MUST RE-REGISTER this year for our school to receive credit. Attending to this simple process makes a HUGE difference to our school. We need your support. Please be sure to register your card to benefit SMITHTOWN HIGH SCHOOL WEST using ID # 07875.


    GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT

    The GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT will be hosting the THIRD ANNUAL EVENING COLLEGE FAIR on Tuesday, April 22nd at 7pm in the HS WEST AUDITORIUM. All Juniors and their parents are welcome to attend.
    JUNIORS:The SUFFOLK COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT has a summer program from July 14 through July 18th at the Suffolk Community College--Brentwood Campus. Applications are due by May 16th---come to Guidance for an application.
    SENIORS: The SMITHTOWN COLLEGE AID application is available in the guidance Office. Deadline is May 2nd.

    PTSA NEWS

    The PTSA benefits and supports the students of HS West-------show your support and join the PTSA by completing a form and sending your check (SHSW PTSA)($12-first adult and $6--for any additional family member to SHS West PTSA Membership,14 Roundabout Road, Smithtown,NY 11787---- PTSA MEETINGS: will meet in the Faculty Room at 7:30pm-9pm on the following dates:

    CLUBS

    FRESHMAN CLASS COUNCIL: is hosting a teacher SUMO wrestling tournament to raise money for the winner's charity of choice on May 28th at 3pm.Encourage your teachers to participate and any teachers interested should contact Mr. Como.
    NATIONAL ENGLISH HONOR SOCIETY: BOOK DRIVE during the month of April---We are collecting books of all genres for children/young adults. Donation boxes can be found in all English classrooms BULL'S EYE: has a brand new website---visit: WWW.NEWSATWEST.COM for photos and articles for and about the students of SMITHTOWN WEST.
    REMINDER: Peer Tutoring is available on Mondays and Thursdays after school in Room A104----anyone needing help in any subject is welcome to attend.
